Core concepts
What is Governed AI agent?
An AI agent constrained by identity, permissions, business rules, thresholds, approvals, evidence requirements, audit logs, and explicit escalation paths.
Also known as: enterprise AI agent governance
Why does it matter?
Autonomy without controls creates operational and compliance risk. Governance makes agent actions predictable enough to deploy in workflows that affect money, customers, inventory, or commitments.
What does it look like in practice?
An agent may approve a standard credit adjustment below a threshold with evidence, but must route higher amounts or hardship cases to an authorized person.
